Greetings Reuse Fans,
Things have been hopping at CJ – new staff, loads of donations and deconstruction projects. Since May, we have struggled to keep up with the activity, but we are now in a place with staff to increase our hours of operation. Beginning Tuesday, September 15h, we will be extending our on-site hours for shopping and donating to Tuesday through Sunday and we will be closing every day at 4:00. Our gate will be open until 5:00 for the City recycling drop off only. Please don’t drop off your building material donations after 4:00.
These hours will likely remain the same for the rest of the year! We deeply appreciate your continued support of our mission and we are cautiously optimistic about our ability to operate safely and efficiently in the coming months.
Our deconstruction team has finally completed the full deconstruction of the UMWA training center in Washington PA. This was a very challenging job and we appreciate the commitment of Brian Swearingen, our deconstruction manager, and the assistance of the South Hilltop job trainees. All of the lumber you are seeing at the front of the store and in the parking lot are the “reuse fruits” of our labor. Attention CJ shoppers: 4 X 8 plywood sheets from this job will be hitting the floor soon!
We have also just completed the deconstruction of some high end kitchen sets from a showroom floor. These sets have obviously never been used and are of excellent quality. It is unusual for CJ to have this kind of high end cabinetry! These sets are more expensive than what you would normally see on the CJ floor but they are less than 50% of the cost if you purchased the set without paying for installation!
Enjoy your Labor Day holiday. CJ will be closed on Monday and all of our staff will be getting a well-deserved day off. We are certain you need one as well!
