Greetings reuse fans,
Thanks for checking in on us. Keep perusing our inventory site and keep calling! Missy, our GM, and Veronica, assistant operations manager, are ready to help with your CJ-sustaining purchases and scheduling your curbside pick up time. Our cashier’s desk has become a cell phone nerve center. You are free to leave a message, but we hope you will be spending holidays with family this weekend (either physically or virtually).
While donations were suspended, one of our trucks did leave the parking lot this week. It wasn’t to pick up building materials, but to deliver meals to Pittsburgh Public School kids arranged by 412 Food Rescue volunteers. It was a great chance for our donations manager, Greg, and pickup coordinator, Link, to lend a hand in these times of need. Both of these long time CJ employees started their employment with us through job training programs, Link with the deconstruction crew and Greg in the retail store. Their hard work and dedication perfectly represents CJ’s mission to offer assistance to others . We are ready to help again if needed!
Walking around the CJ warehouse is usually an experience of bustling activity, a mix of chaos and excitement around what’s coming into the building and what’s going out. Wondering what people are going to do with all that stuff piled up in their carts waiting in the checkout line. I realize how I have come to take these scenes for granted, never imagining, that for multiple days I would walk through CJ and see no customers nor many of our employees. Both groups are now waiting to be called back to promote more reuse. In the meantime, keep hanging on to your stuff to donate and call us when you need something.
I can’t wait for your return!
